Our daughter welcoming her second child into the world. She is such a wonderful mom and we are so proud of her!

I would like this turned 90 degrees counterclockwise.
My head turned sideways immediately...that was a dead give away for me.
Not so sure there isn't a better way to go than this faded sepia too.
The moment is special enough to make something wonderful from this file.
did not think of turning it but will give it a try. Where the eye first goes is critical. The kids wanted the faded sepia and hey, maybe it is in these days. Thanks for commenting.
I think it's a sweet image of lovely subjects, and I kind of like the sepia look, I've seen other newborn pictures done this way in the past couple of years so I think it's popular. Not as fond of the light vignette because of the way it makes her hand look too dominant, but that could be tamed. The capture of mom and baby is a bit soft but with the subject matter I think it is acceptably so. I do like the suggestion you got about tinkering with the rotation. I would also do something to mitigate the effect of the hospital bed-rail, which is too harsh and contrasty, including that darkest shadow behind it and that circular thing being the baby's hat that may be the wire from the call button. I know the challenge, having photographed 3 newborn grandsons in similar circumstances. Hospitals are not conducive to photography, and you don't want to blast a newborn with flash so you're kinda stuck working with the strange lighting that hospital rooms have. I think you did a good job with the challenge and you can definitely have a nice printable at the end.

You can see the bed railing in the photo so I think it would look awkward rotating it.

I didn't notice that so maybe its true.
Is that so bad? I didn't try.

Thanks to all of you for your sensitive and heartfelt comments. I did give some thought that addressed your comments. The hospital bed was a bit tricky because I wanted a sense o place but not so much that it would be distracting. If I do more diminishing with it, then a crop rotation may have better visual appeal. For now, it will remain in my revisit file with vivid suggestions of what more may remain to explore.
I would rotate, get rid of the bedrail and the emblem on the rail as well as the Sepia. You have captured a wonderful moment of mom and baby getting to know each other.
