If you still have the disks with the software that came with your camera, simply install it. I used to shoot with a nikon and still have the View NX2 on my iMac. Runs fine.I've switched over to lightroom and photoshop since then and am using that more.

Nikon's Capture NX-D works on a Mac altho' I don't use it. I prefer Lightroom and Photoshop. There are other post processing programs out there which have a Mac version also. Depends on how deep you want to get into post processing. Apple has a program called Photos. Pretty basic. They used to have iPhoto and Aperture.

If you have the original disk, it'll be on there, but you'll still have to update it from the nikon site.

If you google "nikon mac software" you'll find many links to various options, some of which are free and others not.

The Photos application on your computer will also work for your images, but it is not a very advanced editor.

Many users here have Lightroom as the primary editor. That's what I use, and I like it. On the Post Processing section are links to various free resources for editing.

As others have stated the Mac software is on the disk that came with your camera or a download from Nikon's site. I have also found that many Adobe products have Mac and PC on one disc and most programs can be found in both formats on the web.

Before Apple changed iPhoto I used it for about 95% of my pp, with the change to Photos they retained the functionality but made it an extreme pain to use. I have now switched to LR and love it!! It does a far superior job of retaining the IQ that my camera and lenses can provide. If you do try Photos drop by Amazon and pick up the Unabridged Profanity Dictionary and find a couple of drunk sailors to develop and adequate vocabulary.

I have Nikon software for processing on my Mac. It downloaded from the CD that came with my 3100. I don't use it, preferring to use Graphic Converter. I may explore it more this summer, since my teaching load has gone to only one seminar.

Hi , you can use Photos from Apple. It's not a bad program when you get used to it . Like any new program it takes some time. You can also use the programs on the Nikon disk that came with your camera. Many members have suggested as much and they are correct. When you get to taking and making movies though tyou have to use a converter program that you can search for online or on the Apps store that Mac has. I have downloaded Pavtube video HD converter from the App store and it works fine.
Good luck.
