I just purchased a 750 Nikon which came with software view nx which I found to be worthless for Raw processing I down loaded a free NX-D which is more confusing and there is no Instruction manual. I have a load of raw pictures which I can't open Help! I don't know what Nikon is up to I had no problems with NX2

According to Nikon, View NX2 comes with the D750.

Who knows about the sale. I use View NX2 with my D3000, D80, D90, & D7100 still, although all I do is convert to tiff so I can use Lightroom.

I hear you buddy. There's something to be said for leaving well enough alone. Same thing happened with my D7200. NX2 doesn't work with it either. You just have to get use too the new software. I like the old view NX2 better but whatever.

What you need is Capture NX2 but it is not cheap, you can
download a 60 day free trial, to buy it is $179.00. It does
open RAW files and works great.

I been watchin.. so I investigated.. went to the Nikon Support page. Yes I found NX-D and view NX-i. I read what each did (maybe a little confusing). view NX-I replaces NX2 and unlike NX2 does not incorporate the editing functions so you need Capture NX=D for that. So you need both pieces. I down loaded both. They work fine. A little different structure than NX2 (which I had no problems with) but functionally does the same jobs. In view NX-I they kinda hid the file transfer function (which will import your files from your SD card) under the file heading calling it launch transfer so you need to go there to import you files. Else it works the same as NX2. In order to edit you files you need to use Capture NX-D (which it does automatically when you click edit. Editing seems pretty intuitive but in a little different layout than NX2. If you use the save function you get a small jpg. You need to export or the convert function depending on which module you are in to produce a high quality jpg of TIFF. Actually I think I am going to like this all better than NX2. I apologize if I am not understanding the problems cause I did not have any with NX2 nor do I seem to any with this updated duo. I have a D600, D300s and a D5100. all of my RAW files from my cameras read in ok. I can tell you Nikon has done some updates to the software within the last few days. Maybe you need to get the updated stuff. Good Luck and thanks for posting. I would not have known about the switch till I read your post.

Just download the trial for Lightroom and Photoshop CC. It works fine with your camera's files.

And you might even like it.

jethro779, I find View NX2 real nice for processing JPEGs but NX2 is very confusing for NEF (RAW) files. I ended up buying Lightroom 5 for $50 and upgrading to 5.7 and watching Terry White's videos titled "Lightroom 5 for Beginners". After viewing Terry White's internet free videos, using Lightroom was much easier. -FiddleMaker

I got ViewNX2 with my D750, but I never use it. Do you have any other processing software?

Are you talking about View NX2? I shoot raw in both my d5100 & d7100.I transfer my photos from my camera to view NX2 once they are transferred to a folder on my computer I use Adobe DNG converter to convert them to DNG which photoshop or paint shop pro recognizes. You will then have both raw & DNG format.Adobe DNG is a free program!

I have view nx which came with my D750 but the only time I use it is for downsizing the file size. It works great for downsizing, so simple anyone can do it. Great for posting photos on this blog. I prefer Picasa, or Photoshop for the other stuff.
