Just did a search and found very little on this, so I decided to ask all of my fellow UHH members.
I am interested in purchasing a battery pack for my Nikon SB900. The Nikon model is $200.00. There is a BOLT and other brands that are around $100.00. Do any of you have any experience with the other brands and are they worth the money? I am willing to buy the Nikon, but would not mind saving $100.00.
I will use it with my D800 doing event photography.
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I have the great Sb 800 that I use on my D7000, D600, and D 750 and I power them with Calumet Powerblock 900, which is a great unit. It's light, powerful, charges quickly, recycles quickly, and is a great buy. I also have a Quantum Turbo that I use with A Sb 28 on my F4s that still works well, but is very heavy, and very expensive.
are you using 5 nic battery in your 900 of so that way its over heating use only 4 nic are just to hot. you can use 5 alk bet not 5 nic.

Add me to the list of people who "fell for" the SB-900 "upgrade" Thankfully, I kept my SB-800. Not sure if you knew this, but for those using Yongnuo YN 622 triggers, the SB-800 doesn't play nice with iTTL. They work fine in manual. My SB-600 and SB-900 work fine in iTTL. I've googled the issue, and it seems that everyone knows of the issue, they just haven't exactly found a fix for it. Soooo, I guess I'll keep the SB-900 for off camera work, and SB-800 for power and not having overheating issues. I'm beginning to think I should move to 3rd party flashes. They probably still have issues too, but 1/2 the money for the same issues.
