Thought I would share a few more taken with my new Canon 400 mm DOII. Most of these are with a 1.4X III extender. I'm liking the results.
Nice shots and an impressive lens. You must have gotten it direct from Canon.

Waited 2 1/2 months from B&H. I think it was worth it. Distance =. about 25FT. Pretty significant crop on all of them. Like the combo of 400 mm + 1.4 converter and full frame 6D for perching birds. Not so good for BIF.
Have you done any micro focus adjust yet ??

No. Do you see something that might suggest it might be a good idea. I would not try to do this myself and wound try to find a repair shop to do this for me.

Things look pretty good .....but it really should be done ! - with and without the TC - and at a sweet spot focus distance where you think most of your subjects will be . As I recall, I did mine around 40-50 feet.

Good suggestion. If I were to have a preferred distance it would be really close, but 40' to 60' seems like a reasonable expectation. I know you can get hardware to check the focus, but even Artie Morris has his checked by someone else. Interesting in one of his latest posts he stated he has a new 1.4 that he needs to have checked out. I am going to check with a shop in Pasadena to see whether they can do this for me. Obviously I want this lens to be right on.
Thanks for the suggestions Larry.

Hard to really appreciate until one views in download...wow! Especially those first two shots - the one of the dove is my favorite. The detail is superb and the background is amazing (OOF area), really stunning image.

Larry check out this link
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/cameras/1ds3_af_micoadjustment.html for a free method of fine tuning your lenses. Haven't read the full thing, however the camera repair guy in Pasadena gave me the info and he said it is quite straight forward.
