The province of Ontario's official flower is the Trillium.
They bloom only at this time of year, are very delicate and last for only a few days. They are generally found in lightly shaded bush areas.
There is a purple variety but they are rare this year.

Please view in download.

Very well done Pierre. I will share my trillium portrait from northern Michigan tomorrow. They share a dignified beauty. Bob

Thanks Bob.
They are very difficult to transplant, perhaps because they are so short lived.
But, it would be nice if we could, especially the purple ones.

This bloom was part of a patch along a bush road. The down side is that they bloom at the same time the mosquitoes, so getting out of the car is is not easy.

You have them in New York State. If memory serves me correctly, it is illegal to pick them -- at least the purple ones.
Thanks for visiting Angela.

Thanks Linda.
A few bush areas near us have acres of them. Sadly, they'll be gone in a few days.
