Last night I decided to get LR4. Disc or download? Since they are identical, I went with the download. I have a cable connection, so my web activity is fast. When the download started, it said it would take almost two hours! The download was interrupted, and I had to click "Resume." It took a little under an hour to get the whole thing.

This morning, I did the installation, which took over ten minutes. Unlike some other installations, this one was flawless. After I entered the magic number, it found the number from my LR3, and I was off and running. I was surprised that it didn't remove, or ask me about removing, LR3. It did ask about updating the catalog, and I went with that.

One thing I thought was strange - the Import button is on the bottom left, while in the demo videos, it is on the bottom right. I'll have to find time to work with it today.

L3 and L4 are separate programs and can be run together, I have several programs that are like that.

having said that, I uninstalled V3.

does any one find themselves editing for editing enjoyment? What I mean is I enjoy LR4 and will get caught up with the use of tools in editing. I forget about my original goal sometimes, get the client what he wants and defines as quality.

I don't have clients but yes...less is more...it's easy to overdo it.

One thing that will help is the "before / after" view....that helps keep a grip on what you are doing.

Participated in an OnOne Webinar last evening and LR4 with the optimized DNG (PC version) is supposed to be 8 times faster than LR3 when dealing with RAW files.

Heck yes. I love PP for my personal enjoyment. (that doesn't sound right?) If I were working for a client then I would temper my efforts.

I didnt' read the specs first and was surprised to find the LR4 would not run on an XP machine. Here's a question:

The Slide Show button is right next to the Next button in my setup. At least once a day, usually more, I hit the Slide Show button by mistake. Can I remove that button from my view?

JUst upgraded to LR4 a month ago and love it. Many utube videos out there. I'm finding it is easy to use and I like the changes made from LR3.

What about all the "problems" with LR4 that are being discussed all over the place?

I have LR4 at home in the box but am worried about installing because everything I've read says to wait until 4.1 while Adobe gets the bugs out.........

Hi GD, I am waiting too, there are so many things wrong with 4, my club said to wait at least another three weeks, to allow abode to catch up. I did the tutorials, and the funny thing was I looked for the soft option on 4 and of course I was using 3 it was obviously not there

It is always better to wait for the .1 version of any software to come out. I only wish I could take my own advice.
