Why can Nikon users not just say “Lens question about a D7300” instead of just “Lens Question”?

I don't think “Lens question about a D7300” goes far enough.
“Lens question about a Nikon D7300” would be better.
Not everyone knows the make based on the model number.
Canon and Nikon both had a D60 in their lineup at one time.

I suggested adding the camera make to a poster recently who had only the model number of three different brands of P&S or bridge cameras in his post.
Talk about confusing!!! Have you see the model numbers of those cameras lately?
Another poster suggested I could just Google the model number to find out.... Not helpful.

And while we're at it, I think people should post links (that work!) when talking about a specific product.

It was just scanning the issues to see who did it most. It was a clear victory for Nikon users.

I prefer the topic title "Help". That opens the conversation to everyone.

I totally see your point, dsmeltz. A good example is the one titled "Replacement split prism focus screen/view finder". The whole post was, "I am considering a replacement screen/view finder for my camera to get the split prism focus ring. Any ideas what to take into consideration? Pros or cons? Recommendations? Good or bad experiences?"

Oh, no! Bad example. That was your thread. Never mind.

I think they should go even father why not a question about a Nikon D7100 a crop format DSLR. There are way too many cameras to know what folks are talking about when the just give a model number. All of us don't read Popular Photography cover to cover ever month to keep up with whats what. - Dave

I have done a scan of recent posts. When a post asks a question about a lens or some other topic where the make of the camera is important but not mentioned in the post title, 3 times out of 5 it is a Nikon issue, 1 out of 5 is a Canon issue and 1 out of 5 some other manufacturer.
What is that about?

Seriously, are Nikon users so egotistically blinded they just assume everyone knows it must be about Nikon???!!!

Why can Nikon users not just say “Lens question about a D7300” instead of just “Lens Question”?

Oh not you MT. You should continue wasting other peoples time.

I have learned a lot from MT and it was not a waste of my time. You on the other hand have wasted my time by writing this better than everyone else Post. I am new to photography and want to learn all I can. This is a forum for friendly construction advice and discussion not mean spirited comments. I guess your tag line at the bottom of your post says it all about you.
