Anyone have experience with Nikon 20mm 1.8 on d7100? I am considering one and want to hear experience of others.

Hi Nuk, this will be effectively a 30mm equiv. on a D7100, a very average (but very usable) wide angle. I use and old f2.8 version of this lens but on full frame, the new1.8 is very high on my wish list, I understand it is a superb optic.

You can buy a 35mm Nikkor F2.8 DX lens for about $200. Absent serious testing there is no reason to suppose the $800. 20mm F1.8 FX lens would give you better results, except for the faster speed. You could rent both lenses and run your own tests.

That fabulous lens will be 52mm equiv, on a D7100, nowhere near wide angle. If the max aperture is not important, consider a Sigma 10-20mm' (f4, not the f3.5 version) accepts filters and excellent value for money. You will have 15-30mm equiv.

That 35 is still a great lens pmack, I have an old AIs manual version, Bought in 1978, I doubt many modern zooms will out perform it.
