Females are such plain Jane's compared to the males, but I enjoyed this set, especially the last one, she's got more blue on her feathers and love the reflections!!

Thanks Angela, the hens may not have the brilliant colors of the males, but they have a beautiful subdued softness.
We have a duplex nest box that they uses every year and on several occasions we have seen the babies emerge and drop into the water. Ellen says that it is a heartwarming sight!

Okay, you're a wood duck. A FEMALE wood duck. And you see your mate strutting his stuff around the pond, looking good--real good--dazzling the other chicks with his finery. You know what I mean. Fancy clothes, maybe a hat and a cane with a silver tip.
Then you look at what you're wearing...

Love these, it's a wonder to me since these are tree nesting ducks, that the female is camouflaged by mother nature just like all avian hens. She sure has beautiful wing colors. Loved um. :thumbup: :thumbup:
