I finally broke down and upgraded from my D200 to a D750. It took me a while partly because I really like the old 200 and partly because I am a cheapskate. I ordered it from Adorama and got the next day delivery. Set the camera all up on Friday, tried it out and was ready to go. So I thought. The next day was a track meet I wanted to take some pics so I grabbed my old 80-200 2.8 and away I went. To my dismay, the lens stopped auto focusing after just a few shots. I tried everything to get it to work. Tried the lens on several other cameras, worked perfectly. I sent the camera back and they were very nice about it and took it back no questions asked. I did not, however, like the fact I didn't get next day delivery at no charge. It took about 4 days for the entire transaction, and I missed a few night lacrosse games. Maybe there is something to be said for buying from a local camera shop. But, all in all I am happy. The 80-200 works perfectly on the new camera. The D750 doesn't have the build quality that the D200 has. Nor does it have as many dedicated buttons but the image quality is great. I am taking pics under stadium lights at high ISO that I would never have been able to take before. I am looking forward to this football season under the lights.

Nicely captured, Dexter - looks like you're already having success with the new 750!

Thanks, HEART. That was shot with the Tamron 150-600mm. The focusing system on the 750 is really quick. That and coupled with a relatively fast frame rate, just point it in the right direction and fire away.
Beautiful shot. I have the same camera/lens combo, and so far so good.
Really nice shot, good luck with your new camera.

It doesn't get much better than that.
I've had similar good experiences with Adorama.
Recently purchased the same camera. Stuck my Nikon 70-200 2.8 on it to shoot kids soccer and was amazed at the performance of the auto focus and high ISO numbers.
Looks like a winner.

Yeah, I buy too many things. On the plus side, I sell just as many. When I sell my cameras, they're not old, and the shutter count is low so I get a good price for them. I tend to keep the older cameras, though, since they wouldn't bring in enough money to make it worth the trouble of listing them. Also, I tend to buy used and refurbs. I've gotten good deals on cameras with under 100 shutter clicks.
Apart from my D750's, I have a D70 converted to IR, and D40 IR, and two D3100's. They all have rather low shutter counts. I'm taking a class in time lapse in August, and I think I'll use a D3100, rather than putting thousands of frames on a D750 just to make a 30-second movie.
It's been the same with lenses. I bought impulsively in the beginning, but I've sold the early purchases and bought used and refurbished. I recently got a Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 from KEH for a little over $600. It was brand new - never been sold. I got a Nikon 35-70mm f/2.8 on ebay for $300. So, I got two of the three Trinity lenses (older generation) for under $1,000. Buying new lenses would have cost almost $4,000.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Means a lot coming from you guys.
