Beautiful young couple. Taken in front of the fountain at the Grand Rapids Veterans facility. Funny thing, there was another photographer there taking wedding party photos. Seems to be a popular place. Sadly, seems that no one goes in and visits the veterans.

Nice pose, any reason you didn't go full length ?

There was a railing between us. She specifically wanted this shot with the fountain in the background.

Nice shot Tim. If you are up for it, I could offer a little CC. Nothing bad, just a couple of things to keep in mind. I'll wait for permission before I post anything. All in all, I bet she is happy (well, both of them, but you did mention that she was the one that chose the location.

By all means, CC. I am always looking to improve.

I like the pose but not the background, it's a bit busy here and there which is a distraction IMO.

Nice rim light on here ...........

I think I would of backed her up a bit in order to move the groom a bit more to the left, making the background behind his shoulders darker. This would also clean up a bit of the stuff behind her.

The 3/4 pose doesn't bother me, in fact it allows you to get a bit closer.

Tim,

I think it is a great Image. Having said that I am always looking where to tweak and make it better. I do that with my own images as perfect "out of camera" seldom happens. In this case I think I would have added a kiss of light on the two with an off camera speed light or reflector. There is no right or wrong, but I tend to lean towards lighting up where I can.

With your permission I can post a Lightroom version of what I am talking about.

I used the radial filter to spotlight the two and graduated filter to bring some more light through the waterfall.

Thanks for giving permission.
Thanks. Many of the things I see, and mention, I do myself, and don't see them until after the shoot when I'm doing PP.

the first thing that gets my attention is the unfortunate placing of the hands right at her ....um... mommy area.

Second thing is that yes, I find the background a bit distracting too. The fountain wasn't a bad choice, but I might have tried to decrease the depth of field, so it appeared softer, or maybe tried a slow shutter speed and used my flash to freeze the subjects to keep them clear. The white behind them is even more bright than the shirts.

I would also suggest that you use a reflector or a flash to get more light on the subjects themselves. It is great that you were able to use the natural rim light without ending up with silhouettes (which I still do if I'm not careful), but they are still not bright enough to really "pop" off the screen.

I do like the image and pose. I understand about the rail that you had to work around, so given what you had to work with, I think it's a great start. You might be able to fix some of the lighting issues that I see with some good old fashioned PP. Dodging and burning, etc. The hands are what they are. Like I said, I might have missed it in the viewfinder as well. I appreciate it when people call me on things like that, because they start to sink in, and I find myself getting better at seeing those things while composing the shot. Better, but not perfect. I still appreciate CC too.
