Sensor Loupe

Thought I would give some feedback on a purchase I just made. I bought the Carson SM-44 sensor magnifier from B&H and for $18 bucks, the best deal I have made in awhile.
I use the Copperhill kit for cleaning my sensor and ordered their magnifier a few weeks ago. Could not make it work to my satisfaction and started doing research on a magnifier that would see the spots on my sensor. There are magnifiers out there that go for over $150, but this one here is a steal and works!

While on the site, I also went for a pack of 12 Sensor Swab sticks from Photographic Solutions. With my large hands, I have problems attaching the single swab to the stick on the Copperhill product. I am going to continue using that product, but maybe the final swipe, I will use one of these new ones by Photographic Solutions.

Hope this helps others out there who are contemplating on cleaning their camera sensor.

The Carson SM-44 is the same one I use as are the Sensor Swabs.
That combo works for me.
The D800's are due for cleaning in the next few days.

They have pre-moistened version now HERE but a bit more expensive.

Glad to read this as I am getting one tomorrow from my good friends at B&H! I've been using a combo of magnifier and light that was the best I could come up with. Hope I don't have to use it at all but that is wishful thinking. Wasn't sure about this but you have put my mind at ease. Thank You.

Juice,

I use the Copperhill kit too. It works fine but I too feel like all thumbs trying to get on a new swap. Thanks for the tip for the Photographic Solutions swab!

I have the same one. It's nice to have, but the final proof is a perfectly clear shot. Using the loupe saves me the trouble of taking a picture after each wipe of the sensor . I wipe, look, wipe, look. When it seems to be clear, I take a picture. Then I know for sure.

So true Jerry! Hey, I know you sold your D610 again. I did bid, but again, went higher than I wished to pay and in your favor! Hope the sale went well.
B&H just offered a deal on a new D610 with grip, cards and extras for $1495. Hmmmm Just hate to spend that much for a second body.

It was nerve wracking because there was no movement for a couple of days - very unusual. The top bid was $175 below last week's "sale." I checked it at 10:00 PM, and it had sold for a little more than the previous sale that didn't go through. Of course, by the time PayPal and ebay take their cut, I'll be down over $100. I think I'm going to put my D7100 on ebay in a week or so, since I don't see me using it much. That has a grip and a WU-1a.
