I like landscapes, unusual architecture, wildlife. Any suggestions?
Do you like to take pictures of fire, looting, lawless street gangs ? If so, I have a suggestion.bb

Assateague Island National Seashore, to photograph the wild horses. Prepare to be amazed if you haven't seen them before. The landscape opportunities there are nice too.
The national aquarium in Baltimore and the battlefield at Antietam are other favorites of mine.

What part of Md. are you going to.

While not the largest state by any means, it can take several hours to traverse it from the western mountains to the Atlantic shore. You didn't say how long you were going to be there.
For general purpose, "interesting" photography, Annapolis comes first to mind. It's the state capitol, and has some interesting, colonial architecture. There is the harbor, with boating, fishing and tourist activities, good for people-watching (and photography).
The fishing and people might also qualify for "interesting wildlife." :)

My daughter and grandson, son in law"Master Chief USN", live in Waldorf. I will try and avoid Baltimore as I am tired and don't need anymore behavior modification projects. Those people are going to have to fend for themselves this time. Assateague Island is definitely on my radar. It looks like we might get a chance at the Preakness also. Looking for remarkable waterfalls and watercourses. Also want to take my grandson fishing for panfish, got him a pole last time out and want to expand his horizons. Going to be there ten days port to port. Just want to avoid regular tourist stuff and really go after the offbeaten path.

Beautiful picture. I read the Marguerite Henry books when I was a kid, Chincoteague/Assateague have been on my radar for a while. How is the area to visit in the winter time? Like, say, late December?

Anywhere near Annapolis is a great place. The Chesapeake Bay is a fantastic place to see the sun rise or set. Good luck.

Place I'd like to go but haven't gotten to, Gunpowder Falls, think it's a state park, fits in with fishing too, BTW if your old enough you can get a Maryland senior park pass, even non residents so ask, Bob.

If you are going to visit Maryland's Eastern Shore check out Blackwater Wildlife Refuge...
Lots of fishing on the eastern shore, be sure to buy a fishing license. There is water everywhere, pretty much every county on the shore. Historic towns, nice people, definitely a great place to visit and not feel like a tourist. I like the upper shore, Queen Annes, Talbot, and Cecil Counties. Dorchester county is right next to Talbot county so I include him in with the upper-shore.
Queen Annes has a variety of water shots and nice landscapes, the bay bridge can be shot from this county.
Talbot has Easton, a quaint small downtown historic section, very nice, and water everywhere in this county. This county also has St. Michaels, a tourist town but nice water shots, and a very colorful town, Oxford a super cute town with a working ferry.
Cecil has Chesapeake City, which is on the C & D canal, very quaint too.
Dorchester has Blackwater Refuge, you have to have patients here, wildlife sometimes takes it's time to wake up. Hoopers Island is also in this county, which is close to Blackwater, Hoopers Island is not a must see, but your so close, why not it's interesting. They have two nice bridges for nice landscape shots. Hope this helps.

Thank you all this gives me plenty to look at.
There is the Western Maryland Railroad, which runs a STEAM engine from Cumberland to Frostburg, Md. Check for times and dates. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad is in the western part of Balto. City, a ways from all of those "just plain folks" practicing their "Civil Rights". It houses a great collection of some of the B & O's greatest trains! Good Shooting! "retiredsgt"
