I am planning on buying a new body to use along with my D800 so I can have different lens on each. My D7000 is becoming more and more unreliable probably due to water damage. I am intrigued by the wireless capability of the D750. Can anyone tell me how well this works? Can you transfer multiple images to a laptop? Do you like the camera? Should I just get a D810? Thanks for your input.
Robert
The wireless capability of the D750 allows you to send images to your smart phone or tablet. It's a little clumsy to use, particularly if you want to pull selected shots off the same SD card repeatedly as the selected shots stay selected and will be transferred again. There may be a way around this but I haven't found it. I've used the wireless feature a few times but now just take similar shots with my phone camera instead when I want to share immediately. What does work well is the ability to control the camera remotely, at least to take shots...there is not much control over the camera other than taking the shot.
The D750 itself is great. Smaller and lighter than the D810, which may or may not matter to you (it does to me), has the flippy screen, IMO a much more important feature than the wireless, shoots faster than the D810, a more versatile camera overall. Down the road I might get a D810 myself, but just for landscape, and if I eventually find myself cropping more, as the ability to crop with a 36 Mp no AA sensor is obviously superior to the D750's 24 Mp with AA sensor.
I have the D750 and I like it.
Just like the last poster said, I might consider getting a D810 or D800E, myself, so that I can have some variety. . .but I don't think I would get a second D750. But that's just me.
I have not sought any expensive camera control software that might be compatible with my D750's Wi-fi. I did discover that the free Nikon Wireless Mobile App provided thru Google Play is compatible with a very limited number of Android devices listed near the bottom of this page:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nikon.wu.wmau&hl=enI have none of these devices. I don't know which Apple devices are supported by the free app they provide. For me, the D750 Wi-fi is currently as useful as a football bat.
I use the Wifi and am very comfortable with it and like the ability to transfer from camera to my iPhone where I can now immediately share or send it to someone. However the D750 is having an issue that was just identified. The issue is with the Flash Hot Shoe on top of the camera. The plate is a little longer than what it's supposed to be and is giving mounting and un mounting problems. Waiting to see if Nikon's going to do anything about it.
I really don't see the need for Wifi unless you are set up as in a both at a fair selling instant 5x7s of walk by customers. Even with that there is an attachment for the D810 you can use to do the same thing. Personally it is easier for me to just change out cards and not have to worry about another electrical thing to go wrong. I had to make the choice three weeks ago between the 750 or the 810 and went with the 810. For me it made the most sense. At the time the price between the referb 810 and the 750 was only $200. Things have now changed and the 750 has dropped in price $300 and I don't think referb 810 are available as we speak. The weight of the 810 isn't a problem, it is lighter than my beloved D700. Either camera will do what ever you need it to do well. For me, I will probably also get a 750 but not until referbs come out or a couple of years down the road for my wife for a back up low light camera for weddings. Until then, she will have to depend on my D700 for back up.

Hi Robert, you're already spoiled by the 36MP D800, of which I have the D800E same sensor setup as the D810.
Having moved up from the D600 24MP I would never look back. I don't really think you want to back-peddle to the D750 24MP.
Go for the Gold, D810.

I have a D800E and a D750. I find the wi-fi on the D750 useful, not for transferring picture, but for remote control of the camera. I can set the camera up on a tripod and move several feet away (so I don't spook the birds and beasts) and fire the shutter with my cell phone.
Thanks Rick for sharing the information! I'll probably go with 810, cheaper than the lens I want! lol!
