These are digital scans of the colour negs I shot at the Australian
round of the F1 GP in 89.

I just found this version of Ayrton Senna. Lost for some time in my not so good filing.

Excellent captures.
Good scans.
Well taken.
Get to grips with your filing system, there may be other goodies lurking there.

Thanks, yeah, the wet makes for some good images... and dramatic
racing too.

Ayrton Senna was leading by a country mile, when he crashed into
the back of (the invisble in the spray) Martin Brundle
while lapping him and Piquet, a famous incident recorded by a rear view camera mounted on the back of the Brabham which television commentator Murray Walker described as the McLaren "bearing down on him like Jaws".

The photos are even better with the history that goes along with them. Thanks.

Seeing as you appreciate the history (you know you are Old when what seems like yesterday is history); Satoru Nakajima, the bloke in the yellow Camel Lotus pictured above set the "in race" fastest lap... wet, especially a very wet track, can be a leveler turning a race of cars into a race of drivers. ie the best driver being the fastest rather than the fastest car being the fastest. He finished 4th.

I took a squiz at your historic car race series.
The Mustang v 911... Sensational.

The BMW 2002 #411 was a trip down memory lane too.

I drove one when the dinosaurs still roamed the
earth.

Ha, yes! I'd love to drive one of the open wheel formula cars just once. Maybe a formula vee even. Probably available at one of the schools.

Driving a Formula Vee... unless it was in competition with others
would be uninspiring, me thinks. Not enough horse power.

Having said that, here in Australia, Formula Ford used the Kent
Engine up until 2006. That power plant first saw light of day in about 1959 in Ford Anglias... Think Harry Potter) those little
push rod 1600 engined cars could possibly lap Phillip island
quicker than a NASCAR.

Formula Ford, and I think it's pretty much world wide, now uses
a Ford branded Mazda engine.

So if you want a bit of a thrill i'd suggest a ride in one of those.

If you want to flatten your brain and detach your retinas for very
little cost, try a National or International Superkart. They can put you
in F1 lap time territory... (If you're fit enough to do 300 push ups in a stint)

My old J model TZ
powered unit is pictured below. Excuse the lack of quality of the image;
It's a photo of a photo (taken in the 80s)... that was taken with a primitive 1.3meg BenQ pocket camera.

I made a perfect hat trick...3 podium finishes with it, out of 8 starts. The probable cause of that feat was that I was prepared to take physical punishment more than anyone else, rather than actual skill

Please see my signature below

Very nice. Congrats on your early career wins. One of my neighbors has a couple of racing carts that he races on purpose built tracks. He is a Ferrari guy (4 at last count). He has invited me to a private country club type track but we haven't worked out a date yet.
