The conventional wisdom is to do a custom WB on green foliage, especially if you want to do false color IR.
You need to do a custom white balance. Depending on the filter the cameras been converted to use a white card or green grass. Some camera won't take a custom white balance then there's a different technique.

use a custom white balance I have a converted Canon Rebel XTi and I used green grass to set the white balance
