Took our houseguest down to one of the beaches this week. 2 views of one fence because I can't decide which I like best yet. The clouds and sky were very dramatic.

Very nice, Pat.

This morning has started out as a promising day! First I checked out the river and there were a few ducks there, and a Cormorant and I found some deer. My best find was this Eagle perched in a tree parallel to my car as I stopped beside it. I could not get a clear unobstructed view as a few branches were in my way, but I did get a clear view of its eye.

Nice capture Fred Ann. The eye is the most important as far as focus and you nailed it! :-)

Thank you. I knew if I got out of my car it would leave and so I inched my car ahead little by little, hoping for a clearer view but I guess the Eagle had less patience than me and it flew away before I could get a clearer view. What a handsome bird it was! It got my day started in a good way.

Hiking at Lake Lanier, Georgia (02-MAY-2015)

Lake Lanier (officially Lake Sidney Lanier) is a reservoir in North Georgia. It was created by the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956, and is also fed by the waters of the Chestatee River. The lake encompasses 38,000 acres or 59 square miles of water, and 692 miles of shoreline at normal level, a "full summer pool" of 1,071 feet above mean sea level. It was named for poet Sidney Lanier, and was built and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Folks who know me, realize my passion for sharing historical context in photo-journals of my travels. So I did some research into the statues of Native Americans I captured in images during my hike. According to the archaeological record, the Muskogeans (known as the Creek Indians) were living within the boundaries of this lake since around 300 BC. Chattahoochee County’s Creek Indians had amicable relations the Colony of Georgia and then with the State of Georgia up until the 1800s...
