I went out yesterday afternoon with the express purpose of capturing dragonflies in flight. The wind was really blowing too hard for close up photography so I didn't take extension tubes. I was able to make a few captures with the 100-300 zoom lens though. Please try the downloads.

Well done, Jim. Not easy to get good shots of them, and you do, time and again.

Thanks Sylvia, so glad you liked them. The wind was blowing so hard that focus was problematic, these are the best of about 2 dozen. I really appreciate your visit and kind words. :-D :-D

I think you fulfilled your purpose, Jim. These are super shots! Looks like a Carolina Saddlebags dragon. Hope Doc or John will see so we'll know for sure.

Thanks John, I really appreciate your visit and kind words. I am going to strive over the next month to stalk and capture a bunch of these in flight. I need the flight pictures for a graphic novel I'm working on. Wish me luck, as you said you know how difficult it can be. Thanks also for the thumbup. Much appreciated my friend. :-D :-D
