Nude figure workshop

has anyone thought of chipping in and having models pose for fine art nude and figure sessions in a workshop environmeent. The models may feel very secure in a group setting. If anyone wants to try this, then lets talk. If everyone chipped in, then the cost per model may be less but that depends. I live in the Brunswick Georgia area.

There are several groups that have do that here in the Atlanta area... Models came from "Model Mayhem" if I'm not mistaken. I got in a group nude model shoot years ago thru the local club but haven't since... My niche is macro anyway

Check meetup.com. In the photography section, at least here in Az., there are a few studios already offering this, or tutorial sessions. There could be some in your area, which removes the immense effort of having to arrange all of it.

Hi all!

Yes, check out Meetup.com. This website facilitates people and their interests both educationally and socially on a local basis throughout the US and internationally. There are about 100 photography or related Meetup groups in the metro NYC area and over a dozen that organizes model shoots, clothed and otherwise! I belong to most of the model groups as well as run my own: www.meetup.com/NYPhotoSafari where we as a group travel around metro NY and photograph as well as socialize and network with each other.

Also check out photography clubs where activities include model shoots. Twice a year at our Manhattan, NYC club: www.parkwestcameraclub.org/index-2.html of which I am President, we schedule an outdoor fashion shoot usually in Central Park as well as an indoor nude figure shoot at a hired studio. Models are hired through my contacts or www.Modelmayhem.com. Besides Model Mayhem there are other model websites as well. Craigslist is useful too.

Best wishes. Ed

This is a regular thing out here in the SF area. Often one person hires the model and either a studio or a location (Fancy house or something else private.) They advertise on Model Mayhem, Craigslist, and various other venues.

Professional models will only work with someone they trust, but they will sometimes bring a chaperone in iffy situations. My policy is a female chaperone is okay; men--especially boyfriends--get too possessive.

Amateur models are great, but they don't know how to move their bodies and require much more direction. That said, they sometimes bring a fresh vision; some pros will tend to do revert to their tried and true commercial poses. (Also never, no never, shoot nudes with anyone under 18.)

http://blog.robmiracle.com/2012/01/29/wanna-photograph-models-heres-a-few-rules-of-etiquite-that-you-need-to-follow/

Out here, professional models want $100-200 a hour and will sign a release for each person to use the photos non-commercially. (Commercial use gets a higher rate.)

If you have a portfolio, even if only 1-2 sessions, most pro models would want to see.

I've been shooting nudes for about 15 years. My website chronicles my growth in skill. http://www.emergingimages.org

Nudes should include men and women; young and old.

Scubie, a guy in my club specializes in nudes and takes workshops all the time from Kim Weston. I think they are something like $700 for two days and they usually bring in a world-class model from Europe!!
Of course you'd have to fly to CA but Big Sur is in his backyard, not to mention Weston Beach!!
Just thought I'd mention it if you are not familiar with those workshops. Supposed to be world-class! ;-)
