I had a thread in the main discussion about upsizing a print for a project. Got lots of useful suggestions. I wanted to mount a print behind an old window frame and here it is. It is 24 x 40 and there is loss of detail up close but at a reasonable viewing distance it is not to noticeable. C/C always welcome! Thanks to all who helped with their suggestions!

Thanks! The picture was actually taken at the Riverbanks Zoo and botanical garden in Columbia south Carolina. Great place for pictures as it has flora and fauna!!
Will you share your technical details? Such as camera, lens, file size, cropping, etc. I am sure there are lessons for all of us.

Sure thing Randymoe!
Camera is D3000, lens is 55-200mm, file size is 4.3mb (3872 x 2592 pixels) Aperture priority mode at f8, 1/100 ISO 400 WB auto. It has been cropped and straightend. (see original below) I desaturated it so that the white panes would not clash with the green leaves. I sent it to a company called "online poster printing" and it is printed on canvas at a cost of (gasp!) $130.00. This company was able to do the odd size. This is about all I know about the tech stuff. I was really going out on a limb and was holding my breath until it came. I bout cried looking at it close up but when you step back it is ok.
Thanks for the details. They are important to share. I bet visitors will admire this. It may appear as Pointillism to some.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PointillismPrinting on canvas also increases the appearance of granularity.
Congratulations of a good complete project!

Looks very nice. Nice work
May I ask what method you used to mount the canvas behind the window?
I like your image and the idea.

Sure, I had the image printed so that there was a 2 inch border around it. I used a staple gun to secure that border to the back of the window frame (I stretched it a bit as I went) I used poster board to cover that and secured it with a little hot glue in the corners to hide the staples and to protect the back of the canvas.
Very innovative. Like the idea and the shot, if I only had more wall space....
