I will admit that I have one of "those yards". You know the ones I'm talking about. The one that looks like it hasn't been mowed in months. Well that is because it hasn't. Now I keep the front mowed and weeded to keep the county off my back and because I like a nice looking house. And my neighbor to the right of me has a chain link fence - so I keep up that side of my yard as well. Now the other two sides are fenced in by 6 foot privacy fencing so those sides are left to their own and are over run by the Spanish Needles and Lantana.
The photos below were taken over the course of about a week and all taken in my "jungle" of a back yard. This is why I don't mow the back yard at this time of the year. The most I counted in one day was fifteen different species of butterfly and moths.
I will be uploading a lot of photos.
Duskywing
American Lady
Buckeye
Grey (?) Hairstreak
Can't remember the name of this off the top of my head.
Letter M Hairstreak
Gulf Fritillary
Zebra Longwing (State butterfly of Florida)
Cassius Blue
Great Purple Hairstreak (damaged)
Spicebush Swallowtail
Skipper
Monarch
Can't remember the name of this one either. I don't see this one very often.

Great photos, I especially like #3. I love butterflies. Have you been to the Butterfly Rainforest on the UF campus in Gainesville? It's worth the trip.

Great series. I have left the honeysuckle grow along my fence lines for the same reason and I've planted a few other bushes that attract butterflies.
Thanks for sharing, show us more.

Thank you so very much. Would love to see that one but it's just a bit to far for me.

Thank you so very much. I'll see if I have any more to upload. I'll have to do that in a little bit. As soon as I can find the Florida honeysuckle I'll be planting that one as well.
Thank you for the wonderful comment.
