are the animals in lower right a phenomenon from the zooming on the giraffe ? I think I was using a 70-210 zoom w/ adapter
I don't quite follow your question. It appears that you were hand holding the lens zoomed to 200, that's why the shot is not clear. It appears the focus was off on just about everything in the photo. You need a tripod or a monopod to steady long zoom lens. Not sure that really answered yor question though. Are you talking about a lens tele-converter as your adapter? That would extend your focal lenght even farther, either times 1.4 or 2. Even more reason to use a tripod, if that's the case.
The two animals in the right corner are just standing there as far as I can tell.
I'd guess the Wild Animal Park, use to be one of my favorites place when I lived in San Diego.

adapter is the thing used to have it fit the olympus body. I was on the tram at the time the photo was taken - question was about the size of the animals in the front right corner

That sure is weird. Have never had lens distortion like that before.
With multiple subjects, a long lens will compress distance between objects in view. In my opinion, the animals lower right are correct proportion to other animals in scene.
I think the grass or weeds in the foreground are a little distracting, but i don't see anything unusual. I have to go with Nikonian72 - they look like they are the right size.
thanks when they are printed as a 4x6 they look strange. guess when I zoom I have less in the foreground - should know better than to shoot from the tram ride
