My first Lightroom conversion to B&W

This past week I joined the Photoshop/Lightroom CC and started playing with some photos I had recently taken for the purpose of converting to black and white. This photo is a statue in the cemetery across from the local VA hospital and is located in a section dedicated to the military. I took this at the golden hour which gave it the nice strong shadows.

Feel free to tell me what you think. Thank you for taking time to stop and look.

You have great detail and wonderful texture. I might suggest that the highlights be toned down about a half stop. Otherwise great shot and composition. That is a good first effort.

Thank you for the suggestion and I think you're right. I will try it as soon as I get the chance.

Thank you for taking the time to look and make the suggestion.

The photograph is well composed.
However, I personally feel there are just too many shadows.

Super-interesting composition! I agree about darkening the highlights a little. If you edit, I would love to see again, for comparison.

I like everything about it, but if I MUST make suggestion, I would only say.... perhaps put the subject's face "on the thirds."

I like it Dodie, I enjoy seeing black and white pictures. I am not one to tell anyone what you should have done or not have done. You know me I am just a nerd. Lol

This was taken at golden hour and the color version was very orange so I had to correct that. There are a lot of shadows and I will try to go back another day when the sun is a little higher.

Thank you for taking the time to look and for the comment.

You are correct and I will see what I can do with it when I work on it again. Thank you for pointing that out and taking the time to look.

Thanks for looking, Mary! It does need some work and the others comments are correct and I will work on it again (hopefully) soon.
