As you probably know, there is major r**ting and l**ting in progress in Baltimore. A couple of learned colleagues have expressed different opinions about the police response. Since this forum is filled with intelligent articulate people, I am interested in hearing different opinions.

My colleagues' opinions tended to fall into two categories:

1. Start shooting r****rs and l**ters. The r**ting is happening because authorities encouraged it by failing to act firmly several days ago. My colleagues say "What part of 'l**ters will be shot' do you not understand?" My colleagues believe that the Baltimore authorities have made the same mistake made by Los Angeles in 1992.

2. Let the r****rs l**t to their hearts' content. It is not fair to shoot them or even use pepper and other non-lethal deterrents just because they're destroying businesses and the city. (This is the current policy being followed in Baltimore by the Mayor, police, other authorities.)

I have my own opinion but am interested in hearing others. Feel free to speak freely.

Interesting side note: one of the main instigators/inciters is the former head of the Black Panthers. But the mainstream media, although naming him, decided to hide the Black Panther connection:

Stop the radical out of towners from entering the towns in question. Mostly because I can't afford to waste that much ammo. Probably a bad answer but I am thoroughly fed up with the radical progressive i***ts.

Neither the mayor, the governor, nor any other person wants this r**ting to continue. If they do want it to, why are they bringing in the National Guard and outside police persons? Get with it, Shooter.

doesnt sound like its bothering the mayor too much, Donnathey knew in advance this crap was gonna happen & the Guard should have been in place.Just another Ferguson!!! already the mayor is backtracking on her previous statements!!!!

I saw that mayor interviewed! What a complete dolt! How do these people get elected? There was absolutely no show of emotion or sense of immediacy about her! No doubt busy lining her pockets at the expense of the taxpayers. Just another Marion Berry or that guy in New Orleans during Katrina blaming Bush, Ray Nagin, there was a gem!

As those bricks could easily be lethal missiles, the cops have shown great restraint by not shooting. In the same situation, I could not be that patient.
