The young PFC had initialed some paperwork for the Captain who took exception to him doing it.
The Captain sent it back with a sticky-note that simply stated:
This is not for you to do and circled the initials. You will kindly erase your initials and initial your erasure.

Sounds like a bunch of second Lieutenants I had to work with in the Air Force. Only met about 3 Lieutenants that knew what they were doing, and that was only because they were mustangs.
For those of you who were not in the military, a mustang is an officer that came up through the ranks.
Met a couple of Majors and a Bird Colonel who were mustangs, and man, were they on the ball.
Yes,definitely a mix! When Viet Nam ended,some of the mustangs opted to stay in when the cut-backs started and returned to enlisted,usually E-7 or E-8. Not all of those guys were a pleasure to serve with...
