This is a little behind the times. The Yellowstone super volcano has been known for decades and there is even a series of speculative fiction books by Harry Turtledove about the effect of it erupting.

The point the article was making was that there is a newly discovered previously unknown reservoir below the the first reservoir and that it is 4.5 times the size of the upper reservoir.
