Bought his three book set "Digital Photography". Recommended in alot of places so I thought I would give it a try. One thing he suggested that I thought was handy is this. In selecting white balance I normally try one after another by taking snaps and see which one looks best. He said go to live view and pull up the white balance menu. You know the awb, shady, cloudy etc. Scroll through the different settings and see which one you like. Whole bunch easier. I'm sure the old pros out there know all about this but I haven't seen it mentioned before. If so, apologies. By the way, on the back cover $69.99. Amazon 35.00 plus 5.00 shipping.

I have the set but haven't got all the way through. He is pretty good. He and Brian(if spelled right?) Peterson are recomended quite often.

both are quite good authors. with kelby though you have to have a sense of humour as he writes in a very casual humorous but informative way. i have his vol 2 and three thanks to the generosity of a fellpw hogger. i dont have his volume 1 thanks to the us post office putting a huge hole in the envelope it was sent consquently the envelope but not the contents arrived. i like his style real super serious people will hate him. Bryan Petersen is amazing my favorite photographer living and is on my bucket list for wanting to meet.

I love his books. I got the three volume set for about $35 a year or so ago off of ebay(It didn't come in the box it was just the three books, but I did get a nice bookmark in one of them). I think those books are what made me stop and realize I needed a better camera so I could get the pictures I was wanting and could move beyone point and shoot. The fourth volume just came out here awhile back. Although I haven't gotten through the first three yet so I will wait about getting the latest volume.

His three books are available as ebooks; I have them downloaded on my tablet. You're right, his writing style is different, but good.

Volume 4 has been published. Got mine through an Amazon pre-order. Amazon was kind enough to credit me $.25. This is a great collection!

oh I didn't know there was a book 4, I will be looking for it. I have Kelby's 1, 2, and 3. Just got one of Bryan Petersons books on Understanding Exposure. Love both authors

For all of you who have all four volumes, is there any advantage to buying / reading sequentially?

I have Kelby's LR3 book. Love his style, so I'm sure I'd get into the Digital Photography series too.

I only have the first 3 but I really don't think it matters if you read them sequentially. I'm never done reading. As I progress in my knowledge of photography I am curious about different topics and go back and read once again. As I learn more and more, topics in the book make more sense to me. I just heard there was a 4th book on here today. I'm headed to get that book today!!!

I enjoy his books and am just finishing up volume 4. I read them kind of randomly. Each page is self-contained.

I don't mind his attempts at humor but feel he is much better at photography than humor.

His book on Elements 10 (with Kloskowski) is by far the best. I have two other Elements 10 books and reviewed several others before buying his. It bought me out of three months of frustration in three days. The other books look fine if they are all you have seen but he takes a different approach, like the one in his four volume set, of telling you step by step what you need to do to get a result. The other books tell you what each featue is.

He has a ton of stuff on his WEB site also.

I forgot I also have his Elements 10 book. I have been very confused with the elements 10 software. Really just need to sit down and work on it more

On one of his broadcasts, he mentioned that each book builds on the previous book(s). They are not just merely reprints with added content. I have his Photoshop and Lightroom books and value them greatly.

I have 2 of this books, (pse4, and pse10). The only thing I wish he would change is to make chapter headings at the top of each page. I ended up putting tags throughout so I could avoid always going to the front index.
