I haven't seen anything on it yet but
1. will LR CC handle a multi row/column pano?
2. Or does it require all horizontal panos be done first then do the vertical pano?
3. Or will it even do a vertical pano?
I look forward to your answers.

Yes, it will do vertical and horizontal stitching. All merged with auto settings in LR CC merge photo after selecting all 6 shots.
6 shot 2 row hand held pano - not a great subject, but illustrates the vertical stitching done in LR CC.

Excellent and thanks, guess it's time to bite the CC bullet.
Best thing about this new feature is that the resulting panorama is still a RAW(DNG) image - if you shoot in RAW, you can make further tweaks as needed w/o touching the individual images.
The thing that may be an issue is that, in most cases, when the software aligns the images, one is generally left with some white areas around the edges. If you're working strictly within LR, you've just one option, and that is to crop out those areas. LRCC even offers an "auto-crop" selection for that.
The old way, as in sending the images to Photoshop for stitching, one could select the white areas, and then perform a content-aware fill to eliminate the white areas w/o cropping.
BUT, of course, when creating a pano via the send to Photoshop option, PSP sends a tiff file back to LR when you save. You can still adjust further in LR. but not to the same extent as with a RAW/DNG file.
Haven't rec'd my software as yet, but this seems like a reasonable tradeoff.

I like the speed improvement, the resulting dng file, and the auto crop so far - saves some time ;)
