I've not had any issues with AF (That I know of) but have been wondering when the first firmware update would happen.

Maybe it will address some of the autofocus issues the 7DII has had. I had to return my first one. The replacement seems OK, but I still get some out-of-focus shots that could be me or could be the camera. Must be the camera! I haven't asked my wife for her opinion. I already know her answer!:)

The good thing is Canon isn't wasting time getting this patch out. The bad thing is, that they should have worked these kinks out pre-release. :(

Additional information from Canon Rumors states "According to a reader on our forum, Canon has confirmed they’re attempting to solve a service issue with his camera with new firmware. The issues with his camera have been autofocus related, and even after replacing parts of the camera, Canon service was still not happy with how it performed.

I asked if it was a new firmware and they said that it in fact is a new firmware and it should come in early next week.

When we’ll see the new firmware released to the public is unknown, but it could be a relatively significant update for the camera."

This is not unusual when a new camera is introduced and in fact very proactive by the manufacture to remedy issues. I have had no issues with my 7DII so far and really like it over the first version which I was not a huge fan of.

Firmware updates are easy to install and painless if you follow the detailed instructions that are provided. I've had a few updates to my 5DIII since it's introduction. Fortunately for me, most of the things that were remedied were non-issues to begin with.

It usually takes me less than 5 minutes to update the firmware from download to finish. Not a big deal at all. :) :)

I on the other hand had a great experience with the original 7D and after switching to the 7D2 (GAS bout), couldn't be happier with the experience. So much so it's now a toss up which my go to body is the 7D2 or the 5D3. I let the shooting situation decide which I pick.

I've too have been berry berry happy with my move from 7D to 7DM2. Any focus issues I've had I'm pretty sure can be traced to operator error. Still, anxious to see what this first firmware upgrade brings to the table.

I neglected to mention that according to the rumor, the firmware is, in face, AF related. Sorry!

For me, anything sports or motion related gets the 7DII, damn that thing is fast! For anything else, especially low light and landscapes, I take the 5DIII.
