still taking my chances, and so far the subjects have been very cooperative with me :) :) :)
shooting with my 105mm macro lens for now.. probably well be switching to my 55-200 mm in the next day or two.. or when they get more active. I have not seen them leave that nest at all

Nice shot, again, Tom. Those close-ups are cool - and spooky.

Okay, Tom. I haven't been able to look at your bee (wasp) series without thinking, "Grab the swatter!" But you have forced me to think that all things have a purpose. Even a wasp!!??? So, I went looking to find out why I shouldn't swat a wasp. I learned that they are "critically important" in pest control (and here I thought they were pests). What I am not understanding is why they think that I am a pest.

I've always felt that if you don't do anything to really bother them they wont bother you. In all my life I've a
only been stung once... had one crawling on my leg and realize it, and rubbed my other leg on it and then it stung me...

Which has always been my experience with bees -- not so much with wasps; they're mean little buggers!

The only exception to that is a yellow jacket. They're just plain mean! :-D Great shots of these, Tom.

Great shots of red wasps. Don't try this with guinea wasps or you'll get popped.
