Great emphasis in the Middle East is on "Racing." President Bush when visiting the King of Saudi Arabia was
before anything else taken to see the Arabians in the King's Stables. Owning horses has been enlightening and provided contacts I would never have had otherwise. It is a shame but in my local area many people think lowly of horse owners, only because they are not knowledgeable and have no idea what is going on out there. All they see are the local auctions where horses go for peanuts to people that can barely afford them. Sorry, but when you mentioned "Lifestyle" I couldn't help myself. :-D

I understand completely. I spent many hours at Arabian horse shows. It would have been a dream to meet Patrick Swayze. I've heard he was a class act. What a loss!
Yes, it's sad that people purchase horses and neglect them or let them starve because they run out of money. Even with all of the rescue programs, many don't make it.
