Practice at editing landscapes never goes amiss, and there's a variety of problems that need to be tackled from time to time. This one's more cloudy than misty, and you may decide that it's not a problem at all - in fact you may think it's something that needs enhancing. Feel free to do whatever you think is best for this shot.

JPG here, DNG (uncompressed) to follow. (Jpg and DNG both derived from RAW ).

DNG processed. Sharpened using high pass filter method. Increased saturation. Brightened shadows using shadow/highlight control. Finally cropped. All the gray at the top doesn't add to the image.

It's funny - B&W doesn't usually occur to me straight away, but you've made it look like an obvious choice. That's usually a sign of something being done just right. Thanks for an excellent effort, SonyA580.

Fully agree about the excess sky, Ronwande. And it's nice to see a lightened version. Thanks for your effort.

Thanks, Dannac. That's a clever way to introduce some colour into the shot.

Great capture R.G.

I used Photoshop, Topaz and some Dodge and Burn to make the clouds and mountains stand out.

Thanks, Roadking. You've really given some depth to it. And a more forbidding atmosphere. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting, Joe. I see you've given it your usual vividness and trademark vivid sky. NASA will be wondering how we managed to come by images of the surface of Venus :) .

Your "something different" doesn't just grab my attention, it holds it as well. Thanks for your efforts, Dannac.
