I see that b&h is offering a 1 subscription to adobe creative cloud which includes Photoshop cc and lightroom 5. My question is this a worthy compliment to the $1,996.00 dollar offering of the Nikon D750? My next question I have a dell computer that is probably 7 or 8 years old running maybe windows 7 should it run that program OK? Tnx fer any input.

They are both great programs for editing, finishing and managing your images.

The question is is your computer 32 bit or 64 bit? How much ram do you have. Being 7 or 8 years old might make it a 32 bit Operating system and a maximum of 4 GB of ram.

EDIT:

(I have read that Lightroom from version 6 on will be only 64 bit. Lightroom 6 is due out this week according to the rumor mill )

Creative Cloud for Photographers is probably the best photo editing software deal out there, and it's regular price is only $9.99 a month. If B&H is giving away a one year subscription, then you're saving about $125.00. As far as your Dell is concerned, it all depends on how much ram you have and the speed of your processor. I ran it on a Dell with 8 gb ram and an i5 processor, it wasn't the fastest in the world but it got the job done. Adobe lists it's system requirements as Pentium 4 processor and 2 gb of ram, but I wouldn't try to run it on that.

The processor is a Intel(r) core(tm)2 CPU 1.86 GHz. A 32-bit operating system. 4.00 GB ram with 2.99 usable. Tnx fer input

You may need to up your OS to a 64 bit version and increase your ram. At that point it may just be easier to opt for a newer machine that comes with 8-16 GB and a 64 bit OS - then you will be set for Lightroom and Photoshop.

My opinion, Adobe CC program is a great deal, Lightroom and Photoshop are the top of the line software for editing & management of photos - but there is a learning curve to deal with for Photoshop - but it can be handled.

Good luck ;)

Well probably major major learning curve for me as I am not at all computer savy and I don't have a lot time to sit a play for hours to figure things out. As a truck driver to many hours on the road and a truck to maintain when at home.

Buy a new computer before you agree to paying $10/month for the remainder of your photo-editing life, and then consider alternative software. Less than 2GHz, 32-bit OS and only 3GB of usable RAM (and no telling how feeble the graphics capability is) will run like a snail, if at all, on that machine.

I'm pretty sure that processor is adequate.

The OS should be updated to 64 bit (can still be Win 7... in fact that's a good choice), mainly because it allows more RAM to be used. 32-bit maxes out with 4GB and only uses part of that.

However, you'll have to check if the computer's motherboard and chipset can accommodate more RAM. If you don't know the exact specs of the computer, go to www.crucial.com and use their downloadable memory upgrade wizard. That will determine what's in the computer now, tell you the type of memory required and the expansion capacity of the computer, and recommend products they offer (you can still shop around... though Crucial memory is generally quite good, it ain't the cheapest).
