Being older than salt, There are a few nit picking things that make me cringe.
1. The use of the possessive "your" instead of the contraction "you're."
2. Viral, to me implies that something is related to those minute organisms Known as viruses.
3. "Went missing" 'nuf said.
4. "I could care less" when what is meant is "I couldn't care less."

Yeah, here's to the illiterates who say "He don't" instead of "He doesn't", and also "There" instead of "Their"! Ah, who needs proper grammar when we can tell what they mean from body motion!

You can add "you know" to the list for me, and not knowing when to use to and too. In my opinin, it seems that good grammar has gone down the same path as good manners.

To say nothing about its (the possessive) and it's (the contraction). And Yes, the "ya know" syndrome has all but taken over; I've counted as many as six in one sentence. Can we call it an "audible pause?"

How about "try and" that now is in common use? The context of its use makes it clear they mean "try to."

From what I can see the education curriculum today does not put too much emphasis on proper English nor on handwriting skills. I had to hire an after school tutor to polish my son's hand writing and English skills as I was not satisfied with what I was seeing in his sloppy writing and lack of punctuation, capitalization and spelling, in that the teachers did not emphasize the difference between there, their and they're, to, too, and two, and other words that sounded the same, but with entirely different spelling and meanings. And it must have been pretty bad for me to notice it as I was not exactly honor roll material from K-12. Somewhere along the road to education, they've lost the 3-Rs and spend entirely too much time on teaching kids how to put condoms on cucumbers at a very early age. It would be better if they spent that time on educating them on the horrors of alcohol & drug abuse. Of course, we as parents, have failed the system, too. The kids get away with bloody blue murder in school because the teachers are too afraid to discipline them for fear of a lawsuit from an irate parent who thinks they've raised Prince Perfect or Princess Pureheart. The teachers have to spend way too much time trying to control kids who are deliberately disruptive and the rest suffer for it. OK, I'll get off my Soap Box......

All true. One of my pets is people shooting a digital camera and saying they're "filming" - duh!

We do this periodically on UHH and we get to air our pet peeves of grammar and spelling (improper usage). But after it is over the people who commit these sins most likely have no idea that these posts are meant for them and continue going about their daily routine of slaughtering and murdering the English language. For me, what is even worse is the people who know it is wrong but who say, "Who gives a crap as long as we know what they are saying". Occasionally I honestly have to read a post 2-3 times trying to understand what the OP is trying to tell us. After that I just give up and move on. Life is too short to worry about some other person's problem if they don't know how to explain it to us.

Yes I do realize many people make up the UHH forum and some are from other countries/cultures so not knowing the English language (admittedly a hard language to learn) is understandable. I also understand about spell-correct of computers and a simple typo error.

First, get you're sentence structure correct before complaining about others. There should be no capital "T" after a comma unless this refers to a proper noun, such as a proper name, place, or other specifically capitalized noun.

Ok...so call me a grammar freak if you want, but correct your own mistakes before complaining about those that others make.
He who throws the first stone....

I know however, that you're just pointing out some of the common everyday mistakes made by most people, but this only gives light to what I call, "The Dumbing Down of America".

It's a real shame that the English language has de-evolved. We even had a president who commonly mispronounced the word "nuclear" and said "nucular" instead, even though he was a graduate of Yale.

How about the sentence that can be spoken(?) but not written!?

- There are three "to's" in the English language.

Should that be - two's, too's, or to's - if written?

Maybe this:

There are three ways to express the word "to," and each one of them have their own meaning, etc.
