Bang for my Buck!

Just thought I'd ask, "where's a good place to purchase camera and lens insurance."

Last night I was at a meeting of my camera club and we had a guess speaker showing individuals what to consider when shooting Macro. Most of the small group had our camera's on tripods and I did too. But for just about 30-45 seconds I turned to a table to retrieve a flower that I brought and looked back only to see my equipment on the floor. No one said they saw it fall. The legs of the tripod were all locked in place so it wasn't a case of one of the legs folding. So now i have a broken lens and a mark on my camera. Thank God the camera still works. Insurance advice please!

Check with your homeowners agent. A rider on that policy is the best way to go so long as you are not considered a "professional".

Thanks MR Stooter. I thought of it just after I wrote it, but figured there might be other options.

Ask your agent to also look into a "Camera Floater". Ask the agent to provide a coverage comparison for you. You want coverage on a replacement cost basis. If you travel internationally, make sure the "coverage territory" is truly worldwide.

Good point! Didn't think of that, especially since I planning to go to Australia next year.
