I am interested in Pentax Fisheye 10-17mm lens. Can it take macro as claimed by manufacturer ? How is IQ ?

It is by no means a macro lens, they call it that, because it can focus from a short distance, that comes close to the distances used by macro lenses. But if you'll like to shoot macros, get a lens that is capable to shoot 1:1. But the close focusing capabilities come in very handy in a fish-eye none less, as that will give you the ability to really emphasize foreground elements in your shots!

There are only a few zooms that are true macro & they have long been discontinued. At best, this is a close focus lens. I doubt that it could be a "flat field" lens as all true macro lenses are..As for how it's IQ is, I don't know. I do know about macro lenses though.
