A WOW!!!! photo! Now I have to figure out what makes this photo different from most other sunrises/sunsets. Hope comments from other viewers will help me out. Besides the colors, composition, and clarity, I like the simplicity...no huge rocks in front or stormy clouds to distract from the main event. I don't see any overt pp. Is the secret just getting the right view and settings on the camera and waiting for the sun to be where it's at? If that were all there was to it, we would see more photos that are as breathtaking as this one, but we don't.

Shucks, thanks mam :) Went to a workshop one time and the pro doing the workshop went through a bunch of his pictures via slides as it was before digital, and we were oohing and aahing and he said over and over, "f8 and be there." But, that is a lot of it I think. Obviously ain't that simple but you pretty much summed it up in your comment. There was virtually no pp, resized it, used the vibrance adjustment and was lucky to be there, actually took it from my car out the window.

What a beautiful sunrise and the low tide gives great interest to the foreground.

No, no, no...I don't want to hear that!!!! Thanks for your "secret," but, oh my! I don't want to hear that it was as simple as that! You must have been in an air balloon with a lens that was 100 ft. long supported by an elephant's trunk, and with reflectors as large as the moon. Say it was so!

No, was in a hurry, as in 30 seconds or so that sun would have peeked over the horizon and it would have ruined it.

OK. But this was more than a lucky shot. Don't tell me so...I know from experience.
