I always carry on in fear of the worst. After seeing that video, I don't need any further confirmation. Thanks for sharing.
That is an horrendous piece of machinery.
Never mind damaging camera equipment, that machine could well damage an ordinary suitcase contents.
I to carry my camera bag with me onto the plane.
Thank you for the link.

Thanks for the reminder..no wonder our suitcases look like they have been in battle after every flight..
Ths confirms carry on for me too!!
not seen video, the mere thought of checking in my precious camera etc fills me with horror.
No wonder my bags seem to be punch happy after I retrieve them from the conveyor.
That's a clever system - perfect if you're carrying pillows and blankets.
I always check in at least a couple of bags of camera gear, because I can't take everything on board, but so far I never had any issues!

Hey, your Avatar fits right into this topic (like it went through the check-in as well).

A few years ago (circa 4) had a round trip (two different cities and home) from Hell dealing with the air lines! The avatar might be a picture from that time!! Out of six leg journey, something was wrong with 5 of them. From torn baggage to detour to another city and to stay overnight, (2) delays from equipment failure, (another) change of planes because of equipment
failure .... having my carry-on bag destroyed.
