Ansel Adams Anecdote

This is a charming true incident regarding Ansel Adams.

I was visiting Washington State last summer and enjoying my breakfast in the lobby of the hotel. Sitting close by was a grandmother, her daughter and a 3 year old.

The grandmother and I began conversing and I mentioned I was a photographer. She said I have a story I'd like to share.

"My sister and her 6 year old daughter were at a scenic spot and the 6 year old had a little Brownie camera that she had recently acquired. She had been learning how to use it and knew a little bit about composition, etc. She saw a gentleman with a camera, approached him and began explaining how to use the camera.

He politely and generously listened to her, nodding his head in agreement. My sister was watching quietly while her daughter gave instructions. Little did the little girl know that it was Ansel Adams that she was instructing, but her mother knew!!!"

What a lovely story about Ansel Adams. It represents his humbleness and kindness. Precious!!

That is a great story, one can just see it in their mind playing out.

I see it as a very subtle gift by Ansel Adams allowing the photography bug flourish in a young persons life.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Great story. It speaks to the idea that we never know so much that we can't learn a thing or two.
