No Dragonfles This Trip

I went to Texas to see my kids and grandkids and lugged all my gear along to shoot dragonflies. Because of the weather, no dragonflies. So I tried my hand at shooting a bird with my new backup camera and a "falls" at Pedernales SP.

Very nice Doc and I thought that I had seem my first Dragonfly today, but turned out to be a wind blown piece of debris!

Nice photos, Doc. Is that a Scrub Jay?
Cool falls - I never saw one reclining before.

Thanks Bob for the nice comment. It was my first time out with a new Canon SX 60 HS. The rig I use to hunt dragonflies is about 13 pounds and on a tripod. With all the hiking that day I thought I'd give it a try. Waiting for our local dragons to emerge to try it on them.

Yeah Corky I wishfully thinking see the same thing here. I see a leaf blow up as I'm working in the yard or I'm driving. We had a few migrant Common Green Darners here last week but the local dragons have not emerged. We only get two migrant species from the south until about mid-May. Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Sherry. Yeah that's a Scrub Jay. In all my trips to Texas to see the family it's a first for me. What a beautiful color of blue. As for the falls, they are different. They're like long slides which is what people use to do at slightly higher water. However there is no swimming in the river at all anymore. I've seen pictures where it can change from the placid stream into a raging torrent in minutes! I'll hopefully be getting better with that new SX60. Have a great day!

I enjoyed this set Doc!! Sorry there were no dragons on your trip, but I love this bird.... any idea what kind it is??

Now spring has sprung on the east coast, so you will have many chances for dragon shooting!! I'm sure you had an even better time spending it with your family!!

Thanks Angela. I really enjoyed this state park. Yeah there were no dragons but the reason we went was to see the kids and g-kids. The bird is a Scrub Jay. The blue was beautiful. Another month and we'll have local dragons beginning to emerge.
Have a great day!
