Not sure if this was a juvenile or hurt, but I was able to get within 3 foot of it while it was on the bird bath.... Had a 105mm macro lens & ring/point light on the camera as I was out hunting bugs in the backyard... It did eventually fly away into a tree so it must not have been hurt.

Excellent detail, Scott, especially #2. It looks like a puffed up juvie common sparrow? Strange how it let you get so close. :-) :D
Edit...Duh, I didn't read the title properly--it ain't no sparrow, nohow, lol.
We have a large flock of siskens here, and I love to hear their buzzing calls. They eat tons of nyjer too. :-D Beautiful shots of this one, Scott. Glad it wasn't hurt.

Great shots, Scott! I am currently experiencing my first visits from Siskins and they tolerate my presence much better than most of the birds -- but 3' - wow.

Beautiful shots, Scott. Looks like he just had a bath. Was it cold? Birds can't resist taking a bath and can get chilled and then hang around until they warm back up.
Mike
It could very well have. As it was, it took a drink a few times while I was close by.
