Sold!

I don't know what they have against me, but Canon never wants to take my money. They rejected my Web order, so I had to call to complete the deal. Same thing happens every time I order on the Web site.

B&H is good about taking stuff back. I have never lost a hood. Caps on the other hand.

Oops. Well, we will see what I get. Like I said the site has some kind of bug and I couldn't get into the description.

You are so funny Haydon......A family friend just gave me one of those insulated can holders of the same.

Edit: just checked again on the site and it is now in stock... order while you can!

I ordered one yesterday. It is supposed to come today from Chesapeake, VA. After taxes it was $563. No delivery charge. I was unable to ordered it online, I couldn't get the website to work, so I simply called customer service. That worked. I got the hood and filter from B & H. Good deal all around.[/quote]

If you ordered the lens from Canon they will include the hood and caps. Several of mine also included the little gray bag to keep around the lens. Filter? The lone drawback to this lens, 77mm filters. Have fun with your new lens, it really is a great addition for most photographers. Caution: at 24mm you are being enticed to go wider angle, at 105mm the telephotos are calling. Canon's greatest marketing campaign ever.

I don't understand how this is a drawback: most of my Canon lenses take 77mm filters.

Filter sizes directly effect pricing. Several of my lenses (Canon) are 72mm filters. They are faster than the f/4.0 series lenses. My f/4.0 lenses all wear 77mm while the f/2.8 & f/2.0 are 72mm. My inference was the fact that the EF24-105mm using a larger filter was it's only deterrent. And, if that is the only deterrent a lens has, I would say it is better than average, but a long shot.

You are right. The camera came with a hood and bag. I could have saved myself some time and expense if I had just asked. You live and learn even at 70, lol!

Dang, I just ordered one today as well. I just bought a EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye from Greentoe.com two days ago. I wanted my toy fund to build up a bit before another purchase, but I couldn't pass this deal up.

Now I'm glad I didn't order the bag separately, even though they try to sell you one. Thanks for saving me that hassle!

Buy a Canon CPL 77 mm filter. Look that one up, or UV.

FYI, they raised the price $100 to $639. Good timing on my part for once.
