A few from an upcoming wedding location

Went out yesterday and snapped a few from an upcoming wedding venue. Got there early to grab some early morning light.

As usual, I sent off to B&G and they loved them ......

1. Before the sun came up, heck, you can even make out a few stars. If I was to do it all over again I would of gotten more MP in camera, had to cropped about 60% of the picture away, not good for making a great clear picture but it was still a nice shot. I can see some PP issues around the edges, dang, don't give up the MP's ....

2. Taken before sunrise, early dawn, close up of entrance to the reception area. Used a enough DOF to keep it all in focus.

3. A general over view of the part of the winery used for weddings, taken before sunrise.

I give my 2 cents worth on others snaps so feel free to critique .......

As I do not shoot weddings often it took me a minute to translate B&G to Bride and Groom.

And, having not visited the California Wine Partners I like #1, but wonder if it would have been better if you had shot it straight on as in this example: http://vantagewines.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/vantage_wine_estates_front01.jpg It's not that the shot is bad, but rather that the leading lines steer me to the left into nothingness.

I like the idea of #2, but would ask that you frame out a little completing the structure on the left and not cropping the fountain on the right.

#3 is interesting, but I think the foreground steals from the rest of the shot and has no added purpose here.

In all, it's a great start, but I am curious where you plan to place the wedding party in all of this.

Thank you for sharing and have an amazing shoot! S-

A great example of how each of us see things differently. In #1 I see the leading lines taking me to the courtyard in the entrance of the winery. Frankly I don't care for the example you linked, to me there isn't a defined area.

In #2 the left side of the building extends 200 feet ;) To the right there were several bright lights that would of been a distraction so I stuck with the composition I did trying to keep the fountain in the picture though I lost the base.

In #3 as stated in was just a general over view of the area of the winery used for weddings though the ceremony location is past the tress/tables on the right, it was closed off with a rope so I didn't venture out there. In the picture 3 main locations are seen. Part of the rose garden which is often used for pictures, the table/shade area on the right used usually for cocktail hour and the court yard area with the fountain, as stated, a general over view for the B&G to revisit the surroundings. Remember when a B&G are the subject the structure is secondary and thus the compositions used wouldn't come into play.
A great example of how each of us see things diffe... (show quote)

It's easy to sit back and critique another's work, but unless you're there it's hard to know the right call. This is your area and I leave it to your expertise. Thank you again for sharing and have fun! S-

I really like the first one it would be a great addition to a album. As you pointed out it needs some photoshop work or if you are just trying to capture one of these sunrise night shots alittle more time and patience will give you a better all around exposure, but that is depending on were the sun rises.
And the only thing I see wrong with the second one is the sky has a paper cut out look to it, but besides that this one is another excellent addition to a album. With out having any emotional involvement to this venue the third doesn't have much meaning for me. All and all I think this is a great idea of something to send to clients before the wedding day.

Thanks Greg for your 2 cents worth 8-)

Yes, if I had waited about 5 more minutes on #1 it would of helped, I pushed it and thus a bit more noise when I brought up the exposure which was off a tad because of the low light, good call.

On #2 I could see how the3 paper cut thing comes up. It's clean, almost to clean, give me a few clouds :)

#3 is what I stated, just a general over view of the location. The B&G can look at it and know where they will be doing certain things but yes, no defined subject, just a pretty 'general' picture.

Very nice. I guess I'm in the minority. For some reason, I keep wanting to go back and look at #3. I do like the first one, but the 3rd is my personal favorite. I can't even explain why. I guess I'm too tired, had to deal with plumbing issues all weekend. Came back to work to get some relaxation.
