It's good but nothing that grabs me in a big way. Exposure is good, some interest in the reflection but it isn't a grabber IMO .........

The side view shows the grooms double chin, in fact it grabbed my attention first when I look at their faces.

Summary: Nothing bad I can say about the exposure, neither is the composition bad, just not an eye catcher snap IMO .......

OK, I rarely disagree with someone outright, but as a proud owner of a double chin, it didn't bother me. I'm a big fan of this shot, and I can only guess that the B&G will really like it. It does grab my attention.

What I'm going to say next will probably get me shunned, but of course, that doesn't stop me.

Sometimes the less than technically perfect images, even ones that aren't very sharp, can be the ones that say the most to the couple. I love the expressions, the lighting, and the reflection. I guess this time, Beercat and I will have to agree to disagree.

The only real critique I would have, and I'm not even sure it is right, it looks a slight bit tilted to the right. It may be an optical illusion, but to my eye, on my computer (with my tired eyes) it looks like it could use straightening, or maybe lens correction of some sort?

We wouldn't shun you Bob. Just poke fun at you :) But seriously my impression of the image is a mixture of yours and Beercat.

I love the "in door with overexposed light images" and this one has a reflection! How cool is that? That was my first impression, but then there is something about being centered in-between two black bars that is less than pleasing for me. I think I would have either cropped in and forget about the reflection or try to bring the exposure up on either side of the door. However I suspect that what is there may have taken away from the image.

Putting all those elements together (exposure of subject, background, reflect, composition) is fun but tricky. I was attempting the shadow effect in an engagement shoot yesterday and not happy with the results.

I agree about cropping in and forgetting the reflection, and bringing the exposure up on either side of the door. If you look at the one I posted "wedding book page" in this section, I think with the two shots on one page it has more impact.

I hear you. I've been away from shooting events for a while, and my next one is a reception only shoot in a small hillbilly town in early May. It will be a challenge to get anything that doesn't look like "Sunday at the IHOP" but I'm going to do my best. Hope to have something worth posting.

My next big engagement for a full blown wedding that should be absolutely beautiful is in June. I will have a 3rd shooter with us, and it will start with first looks in the morning, clear up until the fireworks show. (yeah, fireworks downtown. They are paying $70 per plate for the catering as well........but still complained about my ridiculously low pricing)

What a world.

I looked at the "wedding page" post first and posted a reply there. Youall have to check that out too. My comment here is that Terri and I shoot for the album. Something like what Bob does "shooting for the wall hanger" I think he says.

This shot, although not technically perfect because, "it is what it is", can be just the shot that the B&G love. Creative album page design can turn it into a WOW image.
