Talon

A couple of days ago I was taking one of my labs for a walk and she found this hawk. It was about 50 yards away from where I was taking photos of the red-shouldered hawk nest last summer. So I fear that it is a yearling that did not survive. I don't believe it starved, I think the hawks are at war with owls.

Shown is the talon, shoulder, and tail feathers in back.

Don't know if I have seen talons that close up. Sure could do some damage. I think this is a very unique image and very well done.

Thank you Dixie and Bill -- Bill, easier than Amber, but painful never-the-less.

I like that you have memorialized the hawk in this way with your special talent.

Thank you Nightski, exactly what my attempt was. I would have been much happier to see it flying overhead for sure..
