Poorly stated title of the article relating to jpegs.

They DO NOT degrade over time any more than any other digital file.
Every iteration loses information every time it is saved.

Simplest cure, never save over the original. :-)

I receive this subscription but hadn't read yet. I have to ask myself if this is a joke, because this kind of BS on several points will have me cancelling ... like now.

You may like to reconsider.
I also saw the simplistic almost correct tripe that has you disappointed .... BUT .... I clicked on this composition article link to the side of that page.
And it is simplistic ... no .. it is simple .... concise, with good images to show what they mean, and some people will be exceptionally happy, it doesn't mention thirds.

I have enough arriving to my inbox everyday. I don't need BS. They have editors that make for-pay decisions...

I am not going to subscribe .... but did you read the composition article? .... for an online magazine, it is quite good and doesn't make you wade through a heap of advertisements to find each page.

There is a targeted demographic for any successful publication. I don't see a lot in here for me, although one can always learn something, but I can see how this would be new, exciting and complex information for some.

From a cursory view, and trying to adopt the mindset of a novice, I can see how this might have value...., I didn't see anything significant that was categorically wrong from a novice point of view. Arguable? Maybe.

Anyone that find their way to UHH and last more than a couple of days probably doesn't need this however....

I see from the comments after the article that someone else has noticed the BS and is cancelling the Newsletter.

I only disagree with their view about JPEG files. While it is true that an original JPEG file will deteriorate in time if worked on and saved repeatedly it will not if worked on a copy or if the original file is converted to a TIFF. I have JPEG files which are over 10 years old and they still look as brand new.
I use both files when I shoot and I am very pleased with my JPEG files which I save as TIFF. Since I use Nikon bodies I use D-lighting in camera which allows me to use a wider dynamic range than I would usually have if I did not while shooting JPEG.
Modern JPEG files are better than ever just store them as TIFF and always work on a duplicate.

Key words here are "Edit and Save". Just stop saving and the file will not degrade. Doctor, Doctor, It hurts when I go like this! Well don't go like that!

Just do 'Save As' and assign an altered file name. Just opening a file does not alter a file.
