Late yesterday, I ordered a specialty (triangular) screwdriver set from Amazon. I just got an email saying I will receive it tomorrow. It arrived in the Seattle, WA at 11:29 last night, and I will have it in NY tomorrow. That's amazing.

Wow Jerry, I agree, Amazon gets your items to you fast, that's why I love them and will continue to do business with them. Tomorrow I should be getting my 'Echo.' You talk to it. Like Siri but always on, it's name is 'Alexa.' You can ask it any q roaming around in your brain. I wish they'd have this for TV. Just think, you could say, 'volume lower,' 'record this show,' switch channels, etc.

Someday they will combine a TV, computer, phone and something like this Echo, all working on wifi (or something similar) and working in combination with one another using voice commands. Darn, I was born too soon...

Funny this topic came up. We spend a lot of money with Amazon and their service is superb. That is until recently.
I am not in a hurry to receive my purchases,so I did not pay the $99 for the speedy service and movies, etc. My last few orders, while in stock, typically took a few days to even be shipped. Not a problem, but noticeable delays. Wonder if my lack of $99 has anything to do with this?? At any rate,I now buy more more from Ebay because of this.

Echo sounds good. Do you have a link for that?

http://www.amazon.com/oc/echo/ref_=ods_dp_ae

It's $199, but we get it for $99, Jerry.

OnEdit: Jerry, I had to pre-order and was on a waitlist from Jan until now. I wanted it from the time I saw they introduced it. I'm sure the list is much shorter now.

Tempting, and the sale ends today, but I'll resist.

Don't you want to save $100? :-) I'd buy almost anything if there's a sale on it!! :)

Me, too, but I'd still have to spend $100, and I wonder how much I'd use that.

Just every day, several times a day. No clicking to find out stuff. They'll constantly be adding onto it. It's really just another device to get bored with, I guess. :) I would use it as an alarm clock, when I don't have a pen a list. Remember when we used to say, 'Just a minute, I have to get a pencil' then it changed to 'pencil or pen' and now it's just 'pen.' Wow, I get off the subject easily...

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but somehow the idea of having an open microphone in my home, connected to the internet, that recognizes my voice, that can learn, that can be updated and therefore monitored rather easily, kind of makes me not want or need one. Mining and selling browser history is bad enough. Eventually the ad cartel will be paying people to use these bugs. :-) Small wonder Amazon gives a $100.00 discount to their frequent buyers.

Aren't the Jewish holidays still in effect?

Jerry,

You're right about Amazon. Having the Prime service is a treat with the addition of free videos, music and rental books also.

Much of the speed in getting items to you so quickly is because they preposition popular merchandise in local distribution centers.

So,if I don't want videos, music and rental books, screw me and ship my order when you want because I wouldn't ante up?? No problem, but typical of the exploitation we frequently see.

Was it totally Amazon, or was another seller involved. Sometimes it's a combination of amazon and a different seller.
