Thank you Chris.
I'm still working on getting good single shots.
I eventually want to stack photos but just not there yet.

Thanks Bill. I keep tweaking and such. If I ever take the plunge and get an astro camera, I should be able to get some decent shots to stack.

Now that is excellent work Jim.
What filter did you use?

The first two were without filter and the third I used the light pollution filter.
Thank you very much for the compliment. I'm pretty happy with my singles so stacking will eventually be added. I'm Like a Hoover, I sux at it.

I think your single exposures are exceptional and can't wait till you begin stacking AVIs.

I've been very happy with my singles and now have the required counter weights to balance the 11" monster. Celestron sells this setup as s package and it doesn't have many reviews but they are good. Here's a shot of my little monster.

I have been contemplating stripping down my lx200 10" and mounting it on the larger losmandy rail. I was thinking instead of using extra weights I would rig up an extention for the bar to allow me to have weight farther away from the fulcrum. Not sure if there would be any benefits to this route though.

Wow I'm not to worried about my 8" anymore.
How much weight do you use for the 8"???
The manual says I only need the 1 x 12 lb counterweight.
Looks like you'll get some good mileage out of the 11".

If you ever quit sending clouds I might be able to find out!
;)
I have roughly 30 lbs and it balances quite well. That's for the 11. I only used the one 11 lb weight for the 8" and had to add the little 2 lb for the camera. Just to make sure.
I wont know how well the 11" tracks until I get clear skies.

I would think you want it balanced over the fulcrum point.
Isn't that the point of doing the 2 direction balance so that the load is not pushing on the gears?

Yes balance is key but with a longer bar less weight can be used since it would be farther from the fulcrum.. Right now I have to use two weights with my RC and guide scope, I could use just one if my bar was just a foot longer though. Just an idea rattling around my head.
