Adobe Flash Player

I handle my e-mails on a Mac. Every so often Adobe sends out an update for a Flash Player, and my Mac won't allow it to be downloaded. Has anyone had the same problem and solved it?

I use a mac and I update Flash whenever Adobe lets me know a new version is out. I never have problems downloading or installing it. There are several steps to the download/install process so if you don't follow all the way through, it might not ever complete itself.

Another thought -do you perhaps have some sort of virus protection that is blocking it?

go to System preferences and open Security & Privacy. You should get this screen.

Where it says :ALLOW APPS DOWNLOADED FROM:

Click on App Store & Identified Developers:

That should let you download the updates.

In "System Preferences" there is a "Security and Privacy" icon in the first row. Select the first tab "General". Toward the bottom you can tell the computer what to allow to be installed. It defaults to "Mac App Store".

Also, you do have a password set on your Mac don't you?

Aargh!. Jethro779 beat me to it.

Change the bottom of this screen.

Also do a Google search on the security implications of Flash in general. This is why Apple pushed to much of the tech into HTML 5.

It's about your security settings. You must have your browser set to not allow anything. You'll have to lower your security settings to accept the updates... that's what I had to do.

Addendum:

I usually keep my security setting to allow Mac App Store downloads. When I need to download something else, i will temporarily switch the setting, download what I want, and then reset it to its' original state.

It's important to remember to shut down all your internet browsers when
installing the Adobe Flash Player software. Adobe used to specifically state this
in an obvious visual way. But I have not seen that instruction the last few times
I have updated the program.

The program may well not install properly if any browser is open.
